People know that good whisky do not need to be expensive to be good. Especially in a world of ever rising whisky prices, its more important to know where you find good value for your money. Because prices are changing on an annual basis, we decided to create a 2024 list of 10 great whiskies under 100€ who are good value for their money.

Campletown Loch

Campbeltown Loch is a Blended Malt Whisky made from a blend of five different malts from Campbeltown distilleries, including Springbank, Glen Scotia, Kilkerran, Hazelburn, and Longrow. It is bottled at 46.0% ABV in the distinctive Springbank bottle. This whisky is known for its classic and unfiltered character, devoid of grain whisky. The aroma offers sweet notes of honey, butter toffee, peaches, and citrus fruits, with underlying maltiness. The palate delivers a full-bodied and sweet experience with maritime, spicy, and peaty undertones, while the finish is long-lasting with sweet, spicy, and smoky notes.

Verdict: Rising Star

Kilchoman Sanaig

Kilchoman Sanaig is a whisky aged for 4-5 years in ex-Bourbon casks and blended with Kilchoman Single Malt from Oloroso Sherry casks, giving it a higher Sherry influence than the Machir Bay. It's bottled at 46.0% ABV, unchill-filtered, and without added color. With a peat content of 50 ppm phenol, it offers a robust smoky character. This whisky combines complex fruit notes with a touch of lemon, vanilla, honey, and smoke in its aroma. On the palate, it's sweet and full-bodied, with peat smoke, honey sweetness, and a hint of citrus, finishing with medium length and a touch of peat smoke and fresh fruit.

Verdict: Not your obvious choice

Lagavulin 16 Years Old

Lagavulin 16 Years Old is a highly regarded Scotch whisky known for its rich and intense flavors, combining peat, sweetness, and salty notes. Bottled at 40.0% ABV, it undergoes neither added coloring nor chill-filtration. The aroma offers mature berries, dried fruits, citrus, dark chocolate, and subtle spice. On the palate, it's full-bodied, smooth, and sweet with sherry-dried fruits, caramel, honey, and candied fruits, culminating in a long, velvety finish that balances fruity sweetness with a hint of oak.

St. Kilian Classic

The St. Kilian Classic Single Malt from St. Kilian Distillers is made from 100% pure barley malt and matures in a combination of 70% ex-Bourbon casks and 30% Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso Sherry casks. This single malt whisky boasts prominent notes of ripe peaches, apricots, spicy oak, and creamy toffee. Bottled at 46.0% ABV, it undergoes no chill-filtration or artificial coloring. On the palate, it offers a mild and fruity experience with creamy vanilla, ripe fruits, fresh mint, subtle herbs, and a touch of white pepper. The finish is long-lasting, featuring vanilla, sweet fruits, and oak notes.

Verdict: One of Germany's finest

Yellow Spot 12 Years Old

Yellow Spot 12 Years Old is a Single Pot Still Irish whiskey from the Midleton Distillery, matured for a minimum of 12 years in ex-Bourbon, Sherry, and Malaga casks, with triple distillation and bottled at 46% ABV. It follows the success of Green Spot and offers a unique Irish whiskey experience. While Green Spot is likened to green apples, Yellow Spot offers a more characterful profile with red apple notes, showcasing a complex and sophisticated character with hints of spice, honey, coffee, and dark chocolate in a long, elegant finish.

Verdict: Our favorite from Ireland.

Michter's Small Batch Bourbon

Michter's Small Batch Bourbon, crafted by Kentucky's Michter's Distillery, is renowned for its commitment to quality and unique character. The oak used for aging undergoes an extended air-drying process, contributing distinct flavors. This bourbon matures for 5-8 years in American white oak barrels, delivering a robust profile with balanced notes of nuts and sweet vanilla. Made in small batches from premium ingredients and carefully distilled, it's a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey that undergoes aging in charred and toasted American oak barrels, resulting in a flavor-rich profile with intense caramel notes. Presented in a 0.7-liter bottle with 45.7% ABV, it offers apricot, nutty dough, and peppery aromas, a bold yet smooth taste with corn, vanilla, and fruity apricot notes, and a well-balanced finish with oak influences.

Verdict: Core from Kentucky

As with all these lists, taste and personal preferences are subjective. That does not mean that other whiskies are not as good as the whiskies who made into our list. However, we pinned down our favorites based on our personal preferences. What we can say, is that we are pretty sure you will like at least some of our list as well.
